Pilates at Lewes Physiotherapy

Created by Joseph Pilates over 100 years ago, Pilates are a series of exercises designed to improve core and general muscle strength, flexibility, posture, balance and control of movement. All of these elements are vital for rehabilitation after injury or pain.

Clinical Pilates i.e. Pilates exercises adapted or modified by a trained clinician, are tailored to the individual, particularly taking into account medical conditions, restrictions, injuries and pain levels.

Within Lewes Physiotherapy, your Physiotherapist will have nearly 10 years experience with Pilates, including training from specialist APPI (The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) and STOTT Pilates instructors.

Although there is mixed evidence for Pilates helping lower back pain, your Physiotherapist will ensure your exercise program is tailored to suit your requirements and optimize outcomes.

Matt Waters and also additional Physiotherapist attached to Lewes Physio are registered to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and are also fully insured and also DBS checked (Disclosure and Barring Service), that service formally being CRB (Criminal Records Bureau).
